Google Pixel 9a unboxing videos leak just before the anticipated launch

The anticipation surrounding Google’s Pixel 9a has reached a fever pitch, with unboxing and hands-on videos now hitting YouTube ahead of the rumored March 19th release. These leaks provide an in-depth look at Google’s upcoming mid-range device, giving us a closer look at the design shifts and a glimpse into its performance.

As spotted by Android Police, YouTuber Sahil Karoul has shared a full unboxing video of the “Iris” purple unit that offers a detailed look at the Pixel 9a. This video shows off the phone’s full design, including a redesigned rear panel devoid of the traditional visor, squared-off sides, and fairly prominent bezels on the front of the device.

The packaging appears to be standard Google fare with a SIM tool, USB-C cable, and basic documentation included. The video also confirms that the Pixel 9a will be powered by the Tensor G4 with 8GB of RAM and (as you can see in the baseband version here) will feature the older Exynos 5300 modem (g5300). This is the modem used in the Pixel 8, which means this phone won’t support the Satellite SOS feature that was released with the Pixel 9 series.

While Karoul’s video is not in English, The Mobile Central YouTube channel has also posted a hands-on video, offering another close-up look at the Pixel 9a’s design and features. This video confirms the plastic rear panel, a feature reminiscent of the Google Pixel 8a, and details a 1080p OLED screen paired with a 5,100mAh battery.

Both videos include camera and video samples, and like previous A-series phones, the results appear promising. Google has consistently delivered impressive camera performance in these mid-range phones, and that seems to be the case again here with the 9a.
