Apple's M4 Macs: Leaked Unboxing Video Reveals Upgrades, Launch Date Rumored

Apple is expected to announce new M4 Mac models by the end of October, with some of them launches expected on November 1, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Although the Cupertino-based tech giant is yet to confirm the same, Gurman has given us enough idea of what to expect from next-gen Mac models.

In his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested that the company is planning to announce a new M4 variant of its low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro. In addition, there will be higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.

At the same time, an alleged unboxing video for the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip was uploaded (linked to on X by Gurman) by the Russian channel Wylsacom on YouTube, revealing a few upgrades over the current model.

MacBook Pro: What to Expect?

The box of the MacBook Pro lists this as a 14-inch variant, featuring an M4 chip with a 10-core CPU, while the current 13-inch model is powered by the the M3 chip with an 8-core CPU.

Even the M4 chip is reportedly to offer up to 25% faster performance compared to the M3 chip. The next 14-inch MacBook Pro will likely ship with 16GB of RAM, as per the retail box. The box further reveals the model will have three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an upgrade over two Thunderbolt 3 ports featured on the current model. The 14-inch MacBook Pro is also expected to come in Space Black colour options.

In addition to the M4 Mac models, Gurman reported that Apple is planning to unveil a redesigned Mac mini with both M4 and M4 Pro chip options, a new iMac powered by the M4, and an iPad mini.

However, Gurman suggested Apple’s hardware plan is for the first half of 2025, where the brand is likely to launch M4-powered 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, the iPhone SE 4 with Apple Intelligence, updated 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models with new Magic Keyboards, and a refreshed AirTag. Since all are speculations, we suggest our readers take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.
