What’s better than a game with your friends? A completely free game, that’s what. That way, nobody is left behind during game night; everyone can grab the game, get it downloaded, and hop in for absolutely nothing. I mean, if it worked for Content Warning, it can work for anyone.
If you and your friends have nothing to play and you’re in the mood for something silly, why not give “What the Pak?!” a try? This chaotic 8-player game is currently free on Steam for a limited time, and once you claim it, you get to keep it forever.

What the Pak?! is free until June 24th
As spotted by Notebook Check, What the Pak?! is an Early Access game that was released on December 6th, 2024. It lets you and seven other friends play wild mini-games online to see who is the best Pak. Yes, the little creatures you play as are called Paks.
Here’s how the game describes itself:
Welcome to WHAT THE PAK?!
Many mini-games are at your disposal, my lord… lady… captain?
If you’re looking for a 3D party game with fast-paced gameplay, your search ends here. WHAT THE PAK?! is a minigame-rush party game that rewards fast play and parkour skills.
Our little wannabe monsters don’t know the word “logic.” When they see a cliff, they jump. When they see a crown, they steal it. When they see a bomb, they explode. If you want a carefree gaming experience like our little PAKs, join our ranks.
P.S.: Bombs are highly dangerous, explosive devices. DO NOT LET THEM EXPLODE IN YOUR HANDS!
Right now, the game has a respectable 86% lifetime positive review rating, albeit only 37 people have actually taken the time to write and voice their opinions on it. The people who enjoy the game love the graphics, the gameplay, and the range of minigames on offer, but those who were left with a bad taste in their mouth note that the game has server connection issues and problems with random hard crashes. It’s to be expected from an Early Access game, but it’s still a shame to hear that some teething issues must be sorted out.
Still, you can’t really go wrong with a free game, can you? Head over to the What the Pak?! Steam page, claim it before June 24th, and you’ll keep it even after the campaign ends. Who knows? Once the game leaves Early Access, perhaps the game will be so well-polished that you’ll be happy you paid the low, low price of nothing for it.
