You can boast all you want about how good of a gamer you are, but unless you have the trophies to back them up, no one is going to believe you. Even with the skills, some PlayStation trophies are absolutely brutal to earn.
While there are tons of incredibly hard games out there, earning these platinum trophies will try your patience, test your mettle, and destroy your hands with their difficulty. Some of the Platinum trophies require long hours of collecting silly little items while others look for precision in combat or movement. If you feel up to the challenge, these platinum trophies can be yours.

10 biggest console-exclusive games that make me wish I wasn’t a PC gamer
There’s nothing more tantalizing than a game you can’t play.
10
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
Better start today
The first game here isn’t actually difficult to achieve. You can platinum this game relatively easily. If you want to do it legitimately, however, it’s going to take exactly ten years to complete the Super Go Outside gold trophy.
The nice thing is that you can trick the game into getting this trophy by changing the internal clock to ten years in the future, which should only take you a few minutes at most to do. That said, the earliest you can earn this trophy legitimately is on April 27, 2032, assuming you started the process on the day the game launched back in 2022.
Past that, that Commitment trophy is a bit of a pain but not the worst on this list. To earn this trophy on your way to a platinum, you have to play the game for 24 hours on a Tuesday. That means starting a game at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, and keeping the game open, unpaused, and ensuring that your console doesn’t go into rest mode until Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. If you mess up, you have to wait a whole week before trying again.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
How much time do you have?
Just playing Star Ocean: The Last Hope Internation to enjoy the game will take you around 45 hours to complete, pretty on par for a Japanese role-playing game. If you’re looking to platinum the game, you’re looking at somewhere around 400 hours to complete it, if not more if you happen to mess up.
All these hours are split up over at least five play-throughs, each one focused on a new difficulty and with specific goals. Among the more difficult trophies to obtain in Star Ocean are the Treasure Hoarder trophy, which requires you to open every single treasure chest in the game. With more than 300 chests, many of them missable or requiring you to go back to previously explored areas, it is the kind of quest that can break a person, especially since missing one requires you to start over a new run.

Dead Space 2
Bluray really messes you up
This trophy doesn’t have the same time commitments as others and isn’t so hard that it can’t be completed with some dedication, but making one wrong move can send you back hours at a time. The trophy that sends you through this nightmare is the Hard to the Core trophy, which has you play through the game on an equivalent of normal mode with a fun twist. You only get three saves for the whole game.
Dying means you have to go back to your last save, which can set you back multiple chapters at a time and losing hours of progress, making this horror game haunt you for hours to come.
The funniest thing about this trophy is that if you happen to play it on the Xbox 360, it is slightly easier to achieve since the game is split across two disks, giving you an extra break when earning the Hard to the Core Trophy.
7
Cuphead
Cartoony despair
Infamous for its difficulty and one of the more unique indie games everyone should try at least once, Cuphead isn’t necessarily a long game, with a platinum theoretically achievable in under 20 hours. The challenge comes from the fact that Cuphead is highly skill-intensive and has some truly punishing levels that take tons of replays, memorization, and no small amount of luck to power through.

Ranking the 12 best Super Mario games of all time
The Super Mario games are among the best gaming has ever seen, but which of them is the greatest of all time?
One of the more challenging trophies you’ll be working on is the Pacifist trophy, which requires you to beat every single level without killing a single enemy, which is harder than it sounds. After that, the Beat The Devil At His Own Game trophy will take up most of your time, requiring you to beat the game on expert mode.
6
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
‘My life’ is about to get a lot worse
As far as games go, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus isn’t the worst game to collect trophies in. It has a fair amount of collectibles, but not an unreasonable amount, and it certainly has a few missable trophies, but nothing too bad.
And then you come to the daunting Mein Leben trophy. This impossibly crushing trophy requires you to beat the entire game in one go, on the I Am Death Incarnate difficulty where B.J. Blazkowicz dies after only taking a single hit, maybe two if you’re lucky. You have no checkpoints, no saves to reload, and just one life. You will want to practically memorize the layout of each level on the Death Incarnate difficulty, even going as far as to keep a safe file handy at the start of levels that give you trouble so you can practice before going into Mein Leben mode.
5
Crypt of the NecroDancer
Dance fever
Goodness gracious, the amount of dedication that Crypt of the NecroDancer requires is staggering, and don’t be surprised if you end up spending several hundred hours to earn that sweet sweet platinum.
The first of several near-impossible trophies you’ll have to earn is the Undeadly trophy, which requires you to beat the game ten times in a row with Candice. Once you have that out of the way, you can start working on the Lowest of the Low trophy, a miserable experience that requires you to beat the game with each character without using any shrines or picking up any items. That means you can’t heal at all and you can’t level up. Oh yeah, and you have to do it all in one go.
4
Monster Hunter: World
Gotta love the grind
The nice thing about Monster Hunter: World is that the vast majority of trophies in this game can be earned by just playing the game. That said, don’t be surprised if you find yourself spending upwards of 300 hours or more to get all the trophies in this game.
There is plenty of grinding in these games, with tons of monsters to hunt and resources to collect, but the real challenge comes when you get to three trophies, the Giant Crown Master, Miniature Crown Master, and Established Hunter.

10 best video game reveals of all time
From shocking revivals to legendary reveals, these video game announcements shook the industry and sent fans into a frenzy.
The two Crown Master trophies require you to earn Gold Crowns for defeating just about every monster in the base game that are either exceptionally larger or smaller than average. There’s no guarantee that you’ll encounter monsters of either size during a mission, and though event quests can have a higher chance of encountering abnormally sized monsters, it isn’t a reliable way to earn these crowns. Good luck hunting!
Assume the throne
As you might expect from an MMO, there are a lot of things to do in The Elder Scrolls Online, leading to some of the most long winded trophy hunts across all PlayStation platforms. ESO has a total of 124 trophies, a huge amount compared to many other games, and it will take you upwards of 600 hours or more to complete everything.
Since ESO is an MMO, there are a few multiplayer trophies you’ll need to lock in from PVP modes, but even then, they’re not that difficult compared to the rarest of them all, the Emperor! trophy.
This trophy is going to require some collaboration with other players, as you have to become the player with the most points in your faction’s leaderboard once an emperor is nominated in your alliance. An emperor is only nominated when an alliance gain control over all six keeps near Imperial City. There is a huge amount of steps required to earn this trophy, and losing out on getting the emperor title means you have to wait for your chance to come back around again.
2
Super Meat Boy
A classic rage game
Welcome to one of the most rage inducing games of all time. Super Meat Boy is a brutal slog through thousands of deaths until you’ve memorized every possible pathway and puzzle the game throws at you.
Getting the platinum for Super Meat Boy requires you to go through some incredibly hard challenges including the I’m A Golden God! trophy, which includes beating 100% of the game by beating all light and dark levels, unlocking all characters, and more.
Once you’re done with that, be prepared to spend the next few hundred hours beating each level in the game without dying even once. You can’t use certain characters to earn these trophies either, so there’s no way to make it any easier other than just getting really good at the game.
I have to play how many times?
Are you ready to play Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots at least eight times to earn everything? If not, then getting this platinum isn’t for you. The biggest challenge in MGS4 is that there are 40 emblems that you have to earn, most of which are tied to trophies, and with eight that cannot overlap on runs.
Some emblems can feel like impossible to complete, like the Big Boss emblem, which requires you to beat the game on The Boss Extreme difficulty, the highest one in the game, without dying, triggering any alerts, killing anyone, using any recovery items, all without using the stealth suit or any of the bandana items. You have to beat the whole game in under 5 hours, but if you have some experience with older Metal Gear games, it might not be so bad.
These will test your determination
So many of these games will require a level of dedication that few possess, and even if you’re a fan of any of these games, you might never be able to earn these platinum trophies. But if you’re after a challenge and find yourself with lots of extra time on your hands, then why not give one of these games a shot?
