A key feature for Apple users that was missing from Sky Glass has finally arrived.
From today, you can use Apple AirPlay on your Sky Glass from your iPhone, iPad or Mac. That means you can cast photos onto your big screen or play videos or music from your Apple device, making your TV more versatile.
Sadly, Android users aren’t getting the same update this time around. However, there are plenty of other new free features to enjoy. The following features are also coming to Sky Stream.
There’s a new ‘next episode’ button on Sky series including Dune: Prophecy and Day of the Jackal, similar to the one you’ll find on streaming services such as Netflix – perfect if you’re planning on doing some TV binging this festive season.
Playlists are also getting a revamp, with the option to add specific actors to find movies and shows they’ve starred in, and a range of new avatars such as Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig.
If you frequently visit a specific channel, you can now add this to your home screen and assign it a custom number on your remote. If you can’t remember which channels you frequent, then you can refresh your home page and the favourites section will update with whatever you’ve been watching most.
There are also a couple of upgrades for anyone with existing subscriptions on top of Sky Glass/Sky Stream. If you pay the extra £5 for skipping ads, there’s now a dedicated button to get through them much quicker than by fast-forwarding.
Finally, HD Audio on the Amazon Music Sky app is now supported, making full use of that integrated soundbar. However, you’ll need a subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited. This costs £10.99 per month, but right now new users can get three months for free.
