The second season of Gen V will soon premiere on Prime Video. Thanks to the first teaser, you can catch a glimpse of the diabolical adventures that await the young supes in The Boys spin-off.
The series adapts a small arc from The Boys comic book series. It covers the story of upcoming superheroes who attend a prestigious college sponsored by the Vought corporation. Anyone who’s a fan of the original series will know that an elite institution controlled by Vought cannot be up to anything good.
Season 1 of Gen V was as a prequel to the fourth season of The Boys. Season 2 will likely expand the universe and serve as an introduction to the fifth and the last season of the mothership series.
Find out when the second instalment of Gen V will drop on Prime Video, what it will be about and who will star in the new episodes.
When will Gen V season 2 be released?
The second season of Gen V will premiere with three episodes on Prime Video on Wednesday, 17 September 2025. Season 2 will consist of 8 episodes in total.
Gen V season 2 will appear before The Boys season 5, which will likely debut in 2026.
Amazon green lit Gen V for season 2 even before season 1 was over. As we can read in a statement (via Variety) released by showrunner Michele Fazekas and executive producer Eric Kripke, there will be plenty to look forward to:
We couldn’t be happier to make a second season of Gen V. These are characters and stories we’ve grown to love, and we are thrilled to know people feel the same! The writers are already working on the new season – sophomore year is gonna be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire, and exploding genitalia you’ve come to expect from the show.
If you’ve not yet signed up to Amazon, you can grab a 30-day free trial. After that, a monthly subscription costs $14.99/£8.99 per month. You can get additional savings if you sign up for Prime Video as a standalone service.

What will the plot of Gen V season 2 be?
The official description for season 2 reads:
As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander’s iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it.
In the violent finale of season 1, the group of main characters split into two factions.
After freeing the remaining prisoners of the Woods, Cate and Sam started hunting non-supes on the Godolkin campus. Marie, Jordan and Emma decided to go against their friends and stop the bloody riots.
While both groups were clashing, Homelander appeared at Godolkin and ended their fight. He helped seize Marie, Jordan and Emma, who became accused of attacking fellow students and imprisoned in the Vought facility.
Sam and Cate, who were hailed by the media as Guardians of Godolkin, became the most important Vought superheroes of the young generation. In The Boys season 4, Cate and Sam continued their careers. They also played a vital part in capturing Frenchie and Kimiko at the season finale.
The virus, produced at Godolkin University as a bioweapon against the supes, also emerged in the fourth season of The Boys. It appeared to be too weak to bring Homelander down, so Butcher was unsuccessfully looking for a way to enhance its power.
Considering the premiere date, we assume that the second season of Gen V is setting up The Boys season 5. If that appears correct, we will probably see a continuation of the virus-related plot. We will also learn what happened to Marie, Jordan and Emma and find out if Sam and Cate will stay true Vought supporters.
Who is the cast of Gen V season 2?
The series features mainly young actors:
- Jaz Sinclair – blood-bending freshman Marie Moreau
- Lizze Broadway – Emma Meyer, supe with shrinking power
- Derek Luh and London Thor – Jordan Li, a gender-shifter
- Asa Germann – Sam, super-strong and invulnerable supe
- Maddie Phillips – mind-controlling Cate Dunlap
Sadly, in season 2 we won’t see Chance Perdomo, who portrayed Andre Anderson, supe with magnetic powers. The actor died in a motorcycle crash in 2024. His role won’t be recast, and the script for season 3 will be appropriately modified.
It’s also confirmed that Shelley Conn, who star as dean Indira Shetty, won’t return to the show, after her character was murdered in season 1.
It’s unknown if, Patrick Schwarzenegger, who in season 1 played Luke Riordan, aka Golden Boy, will reprise the role after his character committed suicide. Of course, he can appear in flashbacks and Sam’s hallucinations.
In the second instalment of the show, we will see new faces. Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass, Manhunt) will appear as the new Godolkin University dean, Cipher, who is a supe supremacist.
Chace Crawford will appear in a guest performance as The Deep, while Valorie Curry will star as Firecracker.
The new additions to the cast include:
- Wyatt Dorion (Eerie Hall)
- Keeya King (Yellow Jackets)
- Tait Fletcher (The Mandalorian),
- Stephen Kalyn (Warrior Strong)
- Julia Knope (In The Dark)
- Georgie Murphy (Accused)
- Stacey McGunnigle (This Hour Has 22 Minutes)
