An unannounced Nintendo Switch 2 feature may have been revealed before Nintendo could do it. As per a new listing on AliExpress, players may have the opportunity to customize the new Joy-Con 2 controllers, replacing the colorful trim with swappable parts.
The listing, which isn’t associated with Nintendo, details the item as a “replacement shell” with “decorative strips.” The strips feature the Switch 2 synonymous and blue and orange-red strips and a tool that seemingly allows you to remove the decorative piece and replace it with another decoration.

The “left and right controllers decorative strips” listing is currently listed on the website for $3. Colors for the customizable options are currently offered on the site in the standard options. However, this listing indicates that more fun colors for the detachable controllers could be inevitable—from both first and third-party companies. It should be noted that Nintendo has been silent on this front since the listing was discovered. But these detachable strips aren’t the only parts of the Switch 2 that have been rumored to be customizable.
In early May, it was rumored by various accounts on X/Twitter, like Switch2Stock, that the new console could potentially receive custom themes in a future firmware update beginning at 2.0. The rumors also state that this new feature and update could be delayed until firmware 2.1 or 2.2. Nonetheless, the update will allow players to customize their Switch 2 home screens with themes they unlock by using Nintendo Switch Online platinum points or by purchasing them through the eShop. Again. Nintendo hasn’t released an official statement regarding either of these rumors, so take them with a grain of salt at this time.
