As of December 2024, Windows 11 has achieved a new record, capturing 54.96% of the Windows user base on Steam, an increase of 1.98 percentage points from the previous month.
Meanwhile, Windows 10 usage has declined to 42.39%, a decrease of 0.92, as reported by Neowin. Windows 7 64-bit continues its downward trend, now at just 0.15%, and is expected to disappear soon due to incompatibility with the latest Steam version.

Despite Windows 11’s growing popularity, some users are experiencing gaming-related issues, especially with the latest 24H2 release. Microsoft has temporarily halted the rollout for users of the Auto HDR feature, and certain games have stopped working on this update.
The survey shows that 16GB RAM is the most widely adopted configuration, used by 45.07% of respondents. Regarding CPUs, six-core processors are the favored choice for 31.67% of users.
For graphics, the Nvidia RTX 3060 stands out as the most popular GPU, chosen by 5.88%. 8GB of VRAM is common, found in 34.91% of setups, and 1080p monitors lead the display category, preferred by 56.12% of participants.
In the GPU market, Nvidia maintains a commanding lead, with a 75.67% market share, while AMD holds 16.24%. For CPUs, Intel edges out AMD with 63.32% compared with 36.68%. Notably, AMD gained several points here.
Overall, Windows continues to dominate the Steam platform, accounting for 96.10% of all participants. Linux follows at 2.29%, with macOS at 1.61%.
